Black Church Studies and You
It is very important that the African American People go back in time to define our identity. I am ashamed that I know more about white history than I do Black history. I took for granted that my white education was the keys to open up doors, versus the black history of our people, which releases the chains that has bonded us. This is only the beginning, I encourage everyone to get this book "Black Church Studies" An Introduction, because it explains the heritage of our people before the injecting of the European christian religions and take us back into the history of our ancestors. What the Black Churches of today and yesterday is a continuing force on how we celebrate our beliefs in God and the gospels. Before we go and reach out to even more versions of Christianity, other gods and spirituality, we need to go back in time and identify with our own. We believe in God, way before the slaves hit the shores of America. What has happen, it was indigenous of our roots in Africa, not of the Europeans that enslaved our ancestors. Therefore, our history in the Black Churches are hidden to us and replace by dogma of America and European Christianity. This is in no means of separating what has been brought together, but to understand our place in society today, we need to travel back in time and discover our roots from the past. Please get this book and make it a group study, I promise you will not regret it.
